OsCommerce Contribution / Addon
This Contribution is listed here at OsCommerce Contributions site. To Download from my blog.
http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/6517
When visitors will click the product thumbnail picture, Instead of appearing an ordinary popup, a screen centered overlay image will appear in his browser, while page will be visibile in the background. I have seen this code implemented in one another oscommerce addon, but that was a big package and you need to change many files for that.
But to install this addon you just need to replace only few lines of code and to place some additional files. The Lightbox2 is a simple, unobtrusive script used to overlay images on the current page. It’s a snap to setup and works on all modern browsers.

SEO Friendly URL Mods For Oscommerce
Many people asked me how to make their shopping portals more SEO Friendly. There are many mods available for this but iam going to list here all of them for you to easily convery your dynamic shopping site to a seo friendly site.
1. Default SEO Friendly option in Oscommerce converts the site into bit seo friendly mode but the URL’s are not easy to remember, here is the option for that -
Use Search-Engine Safe URLs (still in development) – Enable this option to True and the final Result which comes is www.yourshop.com/product_info?products_id=1 which is indexed by all Search Engines.
2. Apache + PHP URL Rewriting – This is a mod in Oscommerce where in you can convert URL’s using Apache URL Rewriting Engine and PHP HTTP Redirection.
Example – http://www.yourshop.com/product_info.php?cPath=3_10&products_id=13 is converted to – http://www.yourshop.com/en/dvd-movies/action/lethal-weapon.html

Getting More Than You Paid For: osCommerce’s Open Source Storefront
By Scott Koegler
Maybe you’ve realized that the e-commerce system you’re using just doesn’t do things the way you want them done. Or you want to add a particular feature to your site because you know it will improve sales. Or maybe you simply want to change the look of your site beyond your existing system’s capabilities. If any of these apply to you, it might be time to look into osCommerce, the open source e-commerce system.

Q: What should i do to set the right user permission ???
Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: c:/phpdev/www/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk – please set the right user permissions on this file.
A: you need to chmod the configure.php file to 644
If you’re using Windows as your test server and you get this error… just do the following:
CODE
Right click on ‘includes/configure.php’
Select ‘Properties’ (A new box will appear…)
Select/Tick ‘Read-only’
Click ‘Ok’
(Don’t forget to do this for both your ‘catalog’ and ‘admin’ directories.
You will probably need to set catalog/includes/configure.php to 444 as I had this problem when my server was updated to new security levels.

Let me introduce me myself. I was born in (Dinga) Pakistan. I got my education from local school (Govt. Higher Secondary School Dinga). Later I got university education from Collage of Management Sciences and Information Technology Lahore. Comsit is affiliated with Shah Abdul Latif University kherpur for Degree Courses.
During my B.C.S in Lahore I also joined some short graphic courses from Edge Systems International Institute. That time one of my teachers Mr. Imtiaz Ahmed Easy helped me a lot in learning I.T education.
After compleation of my studies I went to Saudi Arabia for job, as my brothers are there for their livelyhood.
In Saudi Arabia I worked in Stationary Fantisies (روائع المكتبات) for 1.5 years as I.T system administrator. Later on I joined Alhyatt Jeddah continental hotel – فندق الحياة جدة كونتيننتال(also known as Abuzaid Hotel and Furnished Apartments) . I worked there as Computer Programmer and Web Developer. I continued my job for 1.5 years and I found that there are no chances for progress in the hotel, I started seeking another job and then I was offered a Web Developer and Graphic Designer job in Nasa for Pocket PC-ناثا لكمبيوتر الجيب (Nasa Est).
I was to manage the online shop (www.nasa4ppc.com), The G.M of Nasa for Pocket PC Mr. Tarik Alwashe was so kind to his employee. That help in creating a good working environment.
I have plans to go to my home countery soon. Thanks for reading
